In a city that never stops moving, Lagos has found a new way to travel together.

The familiar rush of traffic, the daily hustle of catching a Korope minibus, and the constant search for affordable, comfortable rides have long defined the Lagos commute.

But now, a quiet revolution is on the road, one powered by technology, comfort, and a fresh idea of shared mobility.

This week, Lagride, Lagos’ pioneering smart mobility platform, unveiled the Lagride Omni, a low-cost, air-conditioned shared-ride service designed for offices, churches, schools, and large groups. More than just another transport option, the Omni represents a vision of what public mobility can be: modern, safe, and inclusive.

A New Way for Lagos to Move

With its spacious, GPS-enabled vehicles and trained, certified drivers, the Lagride Omni offers an experience that feels both familiar and entirely new.

It’s designed for groups, families heading to church, colleagues commuting to work, or friends attending a social event, who want the convenience of moving together without the stress of multiple taxis or repeated stops.

Unlike the Korope minibuses that weave through the city, the Omni runs non-stop and direct, ensuring faster, safer, and more comfortable journeys. Every ride can be booked through the Lagride app or via WhatsApp, offering flexibility for both individual and corporate users.

“Mobility is one of the greatest drivers of opportunity,” said Chief Diana Chen, chairman of Lagride, at the official launch. “By making modern transport affordable and accessible to every segment of society, Lagride is helping to build a more connected Lagos, a city where movement creates meaning and community thrives.”

Affordable Comfort, Powered by Technology

For many early users, the Omni has already changed how they move around Lagos. Riders praise its affordability, noting that the cost remains lower than typical taxis or ride-hailing services, even with its air-conditioned comfort and direct routes.

With space for up to six passengers, it’s proving to be a cost-effective and coordinated way to travel.

Each vehicle is equipped with real-time tracking, cashless payment options, and corporate billing features, reflecting Lagride’s commitment to combining technology and comfort in every journey.

“The Lagride Omni was designed to meet the real needs of Lagosians who move together daily,” explained Mr. Jubril Arogundade, acting managing director of Lagride. “One person can make a single booking and everyone joins the same ride, from offices to churches and community events. This is how Lagos will move together, safely, conveniently, and in comfort.”

Empowering Drivers, Strengthening Communities

Beyond innovation, the Omni is also about inclusion. Lagride is recruiting 1,000 new drivers to join its fleet, with each driver undergoing professional certification through the Lagride Academy, an initiative run in partnership with the Lagos State Government, LASTMA, and other transport-safety agencies.

According to Mr. Arogundade, the initiative is as much about empowerment as it is about innovation.

“We’re not just creating a transport solution; we’re creating opportunities for Lagosians to earn sustainable incomes while improving the commuting experience for everyone,” he said. “The Omni blends innovation with inclusion, and its impact will be felt across every community in this city.”

Modern Transport for a Modern Lagos

In a city defined by energy and ambition, the Lagride Omni captures a new spirit of movement, one where technology, community, and opportunity ride together.

Spacious, secure, and affordable, it’s more than a new way to travel; it’s a statement about the future of Lagos: a city on the move, and a people determined to move better.
