MainOne, an Equinix Company and West Africa’s leading connectivity and data center solutions provider, has reaffirmed its commitment to community development, as Akinlade Nursery and Primary School, Okun-Mopo, Ajah becomes this year’s recipient of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility program.

To improve the school’s learning environment, this year’s initiative by MainOne involved refurbishing the classrooms, providing new desks and chairs for the students, repainting the school’s external and internal façade, roofing and restructuring the entire blocks of classrooms.

Tinuola Ipadeola, Head, Corporate Services, MainOne stated, “At MainOne, we believe in the transformative power of education and that every child deserves access to quality education. Every year, we take on this responsibility of supporting the educational endeavors of our host communities and we remain committed to investing in educational infrastructure to create an enabling environment for learning, empowering the next generation for success. In addition, Equinix’s own Community Impact program added its backing to support the reconstruction and refurbishment of the school.”

The impact of MainOne’s CSR efforts was notably appreciated by the principal of Akinlade Nursery and Primary School, Mrs. T.M Bakare. She remarked, “We are immensely grateful to MainOne for their unwavering support in renovating our school. This intervention has not only transformed the physical infrastructure but has also rejuvenated the learning atmosphere for our students. We believe this initiative will significantly impact the educational journey of our pupils, laying a foundation for their future success”. The handover ceremony also featured key figures from the community including the local government chairman represented by Hon. Rasak Abidemi, Chief Shakiru Akinlade, Baale of Okun-Mopo Akinlade, Chief Sikiru Olukosi, Baale of Okun-Ajah, and several esteemed members of the community.

MainOne employees play a key role in facilitating this annual Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by joining forces to serve the communities through fund raising and volunteering in the renovation activities of the schools in her host community. Since 2011, MainOne has been supporting educational institutions with yearly donations of study materials, renovation of critical infrastructure, technical trainings on STEM skills and provision of computers to strengthen the education of the younger generations and increase digital inclusion. “Under the auspices of Equinix Foundation, we will continue to invest in more communities to ensure a more accessible, equitable and interconnected digital future.

In collaboration with partners and fueled by the passion of employees, the Equinix Foundation aims to unlock the value of all that Equinix has to offer, including our knowledge, skills and resources, to advance digital inclusion in communities around the world.”
