Microsoft has recently expanded the reach of its AI-powered assistant, Copilot, by launching a dedicated app for Android devices.

This new Microsoft Copilot application is now available for free on the Google Play Store, offering users access to advanced features and capabilities. While an official confirmation regarding the iOS app is still pending, it is expected to become available in the coming weeks.

According to the information provided on the Google Play Store listing, the Copilot app is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 and DALL-E technologies. These advanced AI models enable the app to deliver fast, complex, and precise responses. Additionally, Copilot can create stunning visuals from simple text descriptions. The app’s key features include drafting emails, composing stories and scripts, summarising texts, text translation, writing job resumes, generating logo designs, creating custom backgrounds, illustrations, and curating social media content.

In a broader context, Microsoft’s announcement in September highlighted various new experiences and devices aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity. The upcoming Windows 11 update, with over 150 new features, integrates Copilot’s capabilities into apps like Paint, Photos, Clipchamp, and more. Bing is set to support the latest DALL-E 3 model, providing personalised answers based on search history, introducing a new AI-powered shopping experience, and updating Bing Chat Enterprise for enhanced mobility and visual appeal.

Microsoft 365 Copilot, along with the introduction of Microsoft 365 Chat, is expected to enhance the way people work. The announcement also included the launch of powerful new Surface devices designed to bring these AI experiences to life.

Copilot, utilising the Microsoft Prometheus model built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-4, has a conversational interface style similar to ChatGPT. It possesses the ability to cite sources, create poems and songs, generate images through Image Creator, and communicate in multiple languages and dialects.

At the Build 2023 conference, Microsoft unveiled plans to integrate Copilot directly into Windows 11 through the taskbar. The new features and updates for Microsoft Copilot include the introduction of GPT-4 Turbo, the DALL-E 3 model for enhanced image creation, improved multi-modal search, a new code interpreter, and video understanding in Edge.

Microsoft Copilot, initially launched as Bing Chat, has evolved into a versatile chatbot. It serves as a replacement for the discontinued Cortana and has been suggested as a supported replacement by Microsoft. The Copilot app is not limited to Android; users can also leverage it within the Microsoft Edge browser for Android, SwiftKey, Skype, and more. It provides free access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 model, enhancing productivity and creativity. Microsoft’s recent rebranding of Bing Chat to Copilot reiterates its continuous improvement and expansion of the capabilities of its AI-powered assistant.
