Many Nigerians are now working from home as long as they are connected to the Internet. The Covid-19 pandemic that struct changed the dynamics of work systems. With access to the Internet, it became very easy to get things done.

The pandemic also affected the Nigerian economy forcing it to slip into recession. It recovered from the recession but the economy was not favorable to Nigerians. The high inflation rate and other macroeconomic factors are affecting Nigerians as well.

It is on the above premise that the leading telecoms service provider, MTN Nigeria, Wednesday, unveiled new affordable broadband services – Fibre Broadband, Broadband Router, and Broadband Mifi.

The new broadband services are specifically for different homes across the country to have access to high-speed Internet connectivity at a very affordable rate.

The prices of these packets – Fibre Broadband, Broadband Router, and Broadband Mifi have been slashed by 50 percent, and they come with a free 30 gigabyte worth of data upon purchase and activation.

The new service is also in line with MTN Ambition 2025 to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress, by harnessing its power, brand, footprint, connectivity infrastructure, and technology platforms.

It rests on scale connectivity and infrastructure business – mobile and fixed access networks in the consumer, enterprise, and wholesale segments. We are accelerating implementation through partnerships.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, General Manager, Fixed Broadband, MTN, said macroeconomic perspectives were taken into consideration before launching the new broadband service.

”There are numerous challenges faced by families today. So we have taken the time to curate fit-for-purpose propositions that speak to the different market segments and categories and possible use cases. And we have done this while still ensuring that this packet is affordable.”

According to Onyinye, very recently, MTN had slashed the prices and also opened up some new additional propositions to make sure that Nigerians connect to the Internet at very affordable rates.

She explained that many individuals and small and medium businesses worked from home during the Covid-19 pandemic and moving forward it gradually became a norm for some Nigerians to work from home.

“We intend to connect all homes across Nigeria through unique value propositions, driven by accessible points of presence, clear creating better experiences, this will ultimately position MTN as the broadband service provider of choice.

‘MTN Broadband is designed to offer stable and reliable internet access with amazing speeds ideal for both home and office. Whether you are uploading/downloading large files, video streaming, online gaming, holding online meetings, or connecting to your smart home, MTN Broadband makes the experience seamless.”

Adia Sowho, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria said MTN is leading the way in delivering connectivity solutions across Africa and particularly Nigeria, which is why it is launching MTN broadband again with home at the center of the proposition.

She said the home is at the center of MTN Ambition 2025 strategy and is focused on leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress by building the largest and most valuable platforms and driving leading connectivity operations while creating shared value between MTN and its customers
