NAHCO Appoints Abdulhamid Aliyu, Victor Abimbola Olaiya as Non-Executive Directors

Abdulhamid Aliyu and Victor Abimbola Olaiya

As the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (Nahco Plc), raises focus on enhancing its board composition and further strengthening corporate governance, the Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Abdulhamid Aliyu and Revd. Victor Abimbola Olaiya as Non-Executive Directors, effective from January 1, 2024.

This development follows the retirement of Engr. Mohammed Gambo Umar, Sir Sunday Nnamdi Nwosu, and Engr. Solagbade Olukayode Alabi from the Board, from Nahco Plc effective December 31, 2023.

Abdulhamid Aliyu, born in 1963, brings a wealth of experience to Nahco Plc. A graduate with a BSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in 1987, Aliyu’s career has spanned over three decades, marked by important roles in various sectors.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, the Nigerian Institute of Management, and the Institute of Management Specialists (UK). His diverse background includes roles such as Director/Coordinator of Nigeria–Brazil Energy Cooperation at the National Energy Council and General Manager at NNPC, among others.

Aliyu’s extensive experience in corporate agribusiness, combined with his deep expertise in agricultural finance and risk management, positions him as a valuable addition to Nahco Plc’s board. His academic qualifications include a Doctor of Business Administration in Oil and Gas (Honoris Causa), further stressing his commitment to excellence and continuous learning.

Revd. Victor Abimbola Olaiya, born in 1956, is another distinguished addition to Nahco Plc’s Board. His academic journey includes obtaining an OND in Mechanical Engineering from Yaba College of Technology, a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ife, and an MBA in Management from the University of Lagos. A member of esteemed professional organizations, such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Olaiya has showcased leadership in various capacities throughout his career.

With over three decades of extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly with Mobil Producing Nigeria, Olaiya has held key roles such as Facilities Engineer, Drilling Engineering and Operations, and Manager of Government and Business Relations. His loyalty to service goes beyond the corporate world, as he has served as the pastor of New Insight Baptist Church, Ogudu, Lagos.

The decision to appoint Abdulhamid Aliyu and Revd. Victor Abimbola Olaiya aligns with Nahco Plc’s zeal to maintain a strong governance structure. As the newly appointed Non-Executive Directors join the board, they are expected to bring their wealth of experience to contribute to the company’s strategic direction and overall success.
