The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is hosting of an Aviation Security Awareness and Enlightenment Symposium on the theme: “The Fundamentality of Security in achieving the Safe Skies Goal. This is a landmark initiative designed to reinforce security consciousness, promote collaboration, and strengthen the aviation security governance architecture in Nigeria.
The symposium, scheduled to take place on 29th April, 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos will bring together key stakeholders across the aviation value chain, including airport and airline operators, air navigation service provider security agencies, ground handling companies, aviation security personnel, and the regulatory body., to exchange ideas on enhancing Aviation Security systems in Nigeria.
Capt. Chris O Najomo, the director general of NCAA, emphasized the importance of continuous engagement and enlightenment in building a resilient aviation security ecosystem. “Security is the backbone of civil aviation. To protect our skies and ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and infrastructure, we must cultivate a shared security culture driven by knowledge, vigilance, and cooperation,” he said.
This strategic symposium aligns with the provisions of ICAO Annex 17 and the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), and is part of NCAA’s broader commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s aviation security regime in line with international best practices.
