The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has said stronger partnerships across government, academia and the private sector will be critical to Nigeria’s goal to grow its digital economy.
The agency made the call at the 20th International Conference on Technology and Computing (#NCSRISE2026) organised by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) in Jos, Plateau State.
Speaking on behalf of Kashifu Inuwa, NITDA’s director general, Dr Aristotle Onumo, the Agency’s director of Stakeholder Management and Partnership, said collaboration remains one of the biggest requirements for sustainable digital development.
He said at #NCSRISE2026 that NITDA is continuing to invest in digital literacy, research, emerging technologies, cybersecurity and innovation under its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0).
According to him, no single institution can deliver Nigeria’s digital ambitions on its own.
“Stronger collaboration among government, academia, industry, and the innovation ecosystem is essential to unlocking innovation, expanding opportunities, and accelerating inclusive economic growth,” he said.
Onumo also used the event to draw attention to the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026, which he described as the country’s flagship technology gathering.
The conference is expected to bring together government officials, startups, researchers, investors, technology companies and other players in the innovation ecosystem to discuss emerging technologies and practical solutions to national challenges.
He urged young innovators and startups to participate in the conference’s Builders Summit, saying it offers an opportunity to present new ideas, connect with potential partners and attract investment.
Onumo congratulated the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) for organising the 20th edition of RISE and said NITDA would continue to work with stakeholders to support innovation and strengthen Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
He added that the agency remains focused on expanding digital literacy, building local technology talent, supporting research, improving policy implementation and expanding access to digital infrastructure and services.
