Dr Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner, Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) led a team of the Bureau on a courtesy visit to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Headquarters in Abuja.
Olatunji, said they were at NHIA as part of NDPB‘s awareness drive of sensitizing public sector on Data Privacy in Nigeria.
“It was geared towards intimating the NHIA’s management on the importance of data privacy & protection as a major data controller and seeks possible areas of collaboration in ensuring a safe and secure data privacy ecosystem in the healthcare sector”.
On his part, Professor Mohammed Nasir Sambo, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), expressed his delight on the visit of the NDPB National Commissioner to the Agency particularly that the Agency recently commissioned its data center in Abuja.
He further assured collaboration between the two agencies.
The collaboration has led to the establishment of a joint working committee to develop an MOU for the partnership and compliance to Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) by stakeholders in the health sector.
