Nigerian Passport

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a significant hike in fees for standard passports issued within the country, effective September 1, 2025. The updated fee schedule is as follows:

  • 32-page passport (5-year validity): ₦100,000
  • 64-page passport (10-year validity): ₦200,000

This increase is intended to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, according to the NIS’s Public Relations Officer, ACI A.S. Akinlabi.

The fee adjustment applies only to applications made within Nigeria; for Nigerians residing abroad, fees remain unchanged at US$150 for the 32-page option and US$230 for the 64-page passport.

This marks the second hike within a year. Last year, effective September 1, 2024, fees rose from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000 for the 32-page passport and from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000 for the 64-page version.

Summary Table

Passport Type Previous Fee (2024) New Fee (2025)
32-page (5-year) ₦50,000 ₦100,000
64-page (10-year) ₦100,000 ₦200,000
