NIPOST partners Paystack for its automated payment solution

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has launched an automated payment solution for inbound postal items, marking a major stride in its ongoing digital transformation agenda.

The innovation, developed in partnership with Paystack, enables customers to receive real-time notifications once customs duties are assessed, request reassessment digitally with just one click, and make secure online payments through Paystack links delivered via email or SMS.

To further streamline delivery, NIPOST has partnered with Sendbox and Messenger.ng for expedited last-mile delivery services featuring live tracking capabilities.

Speaking at the launch event, held in Abuja, Tola Odeyemi, the postmaster general/CEO of NIPOST, described the initiative as “a new chapter in NIPOST’s transformation story,” highlighting the agency’s dedication to innovation, customer experience, and public trust.

The event was attended by government dignitaries, including Dr. Bosun Tijani, minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who was represented by Dr. Ade Ladan Rafiu, the permanent secretary of the Ministry. Also present were fintech and logistics industry leaders as well as media representatives.

According to NIPOST, the new solution represents a model for effective public-private collaboration, aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

It aims to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in Nigeria’s postal system, while supporting e-commerce growth, trade facilitation, and financial inclusion within the digital economy.
