The Nigeria Internet Registration Association has announced the official launch of the NiRA Registrar Accreditation Platform, a new, streamlined online system designed to enhance the process of onboarding, accrediting, and managing .ng domain registrars.

The platform, according to information available to Techeconomy, offers a significantly improved experience, enabling applicants to:

  • Efficiently become an accredited .ng domain registrar through a simplified process.
  • Benefit from faster onboarding, a transparent accreditation journey, and seamless integration.
  • Gain access to Nigeria’s dynamic and expanding digital ecosystem.
  • Utilize a system built for optimal performance, robust compliance, and future scalability.

In his address at the recent annual general meeting of the Association, the President, Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, highlighted 2024 as a year of unprecedented growth and innovation for the Association.

Key achievements included the registration of 94,723 new .ng domain names and 61,227 renewals, bringing the total number of .ng domains under management to an impressive 212,890.

The accreditation of 23 new registrars further underscored NiRA’s expanding reach and collaborative success with its partners.

A pivotal moment was the implementation of DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC), significantly enhancing the integrity and trust of the .ng namespace.

NiRA also introduced a Registrar Incentive Programme in Q3 2024, rewarding top-performing registrars for their vital role in driving .ng adoption.

Meanwhile, on the nee registrar platform, NiRA encouraged prospective applicants to apply now by visiting the portal.

“Should you or any interested parties have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the dedicated team at: accreditation@nira.org.ng

“We are confident that this new platform will serve as a valuable tool for expanding our registrar network and further strengthening the .ng domain space”, NiRA said in an email to the .NG domain name community.
