Polish e-commerce platform Picodi released to its Nigerian users the cashback feature, which gives back part of the money spent on shopping.
Thanks to this feature, users are able to get between a few per cent up to over a dozen on their transactions back, both in Nigerian and foreign shops and websites.
Picodi.com has been available in Nigeria since 2015. The website, mostly known for coupon and discount codes, started offering its cashback feature in September.
By creating a free account and activating the cashback feature before each purchase, users will be able to get from a few up to over a dozen per cent of their money spent back.
In Nigeria, cashback is available in 7 shops and websites, including Namecheap, GoDaddy, Vimeo and Qatar Airways.
The amount of cashback you receive depends on the shop, as well as the category of the product. Usually, it is around 1% to 8%. For new users, cashback is increased and amounts to 15%.
The money users get back through cashback can then be withdrawn to PayPal or Binance.
Picodi was launched in 2010 in Cracow, Poland. Nowadays, the platform is available in 44 countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. In 2015, the website attracted an investor (Innovation Nest) with a valuation of 20 million PLN (2 billion NGN).
In 2021, Méliuz, a technology company listed on the stock exchange in São Paulo, purchased 51.2% of shares in Picodi for 120 million BRL (9 billion NGN).
Apart from Nigeria, the cashback feature was released simultaneously in 34 other countries, such as Canada, the USA and the UK.
