Pistis Foundation, a non-for-profit organisation committed to societal advancement through empowerment, marks her fifth anniversary.
The fourth edition of her annual Ubomi Free Medical and Surgical Outreach, an initiative aiming to impact 5,000 economically challenged individuals in Nigeria from October 23rd to 27th, 2023, is one of many ways that this milestone will be celebrated.
Since its establishment in 2018, Pistis Foundation has served as a pillar of hope, providing essential interventions in the key focus areas of health, education and shelter. Ubomi provides primary medical and surgical care to individuals facing dire circumstances.
The first 3 editions recorded 13,020 medical interventions including over 500 transformative eye, dental and general surgeries. All these services were rendered at no cost to the beneficiaries.
Addressing the press conference that unveiled this year’s Ubomi initiative, Godman Akinlabi, the Founder and Board Chair of the Foundation, provided eye opening perspectives on the organisation’s trajectory and influence in the pursuit of its central mission: to extend assistance to communities and the underprivileged.
Pistis Foundation was established half a decade ago with the aim of providing empowerment opportunities for the economically challenged, both within and beyond underserved communities, knowing that anyone can fall into times of economic hardships.
“Recognising that robust health is instrumental in fostering meaningful societal change, our objective is to contribute to the betterment of national well-being. In doing so, we aspire to equip citizens to take an increasingly proactive role in the country’s growth and development.” Akinlabi mentioned.
Likewise, Mr. Leonard F. Thomas, the Executive Director of the Pistis Foundation, reflected on the Foundation’s significant milestones accumulated over the years and reiterated the commitment to do even better, stating, “In the past four years, we have effectively conducted over 13,000 health interventions, encompassing a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including eye care, dental surgeries, fibroid surgeries, and various other medical treatments. In addition, we cultivate enduring relationships with the beneficiaries of our outreach initiatives, aiding their transition from a state of vulnerability to one of self-sufficiency.”
Since 2018, Pistis Foundation has remained steadfast in its mission to transform the lives of thousands via education, adopting over 100 underserved children into its education program with a commitment to see them through from primary school to the completion of their university studies.
To guarantee the sustainability of all her programs, the Foundation has forged partnerships with several organisations within the various focus areas. For the Ubomi Outreach, Pro-Health International (PHI) is the technical partner and the Elevation Church is the principal partner.
Other partners who are contributing to the impact being made include Gateway Church, Hospital for Trauma and Surgeries, The Dover Hotel Lagos, State Blood Transfusion Service, MedPlus Pharmacy, Exclusive Uniforms & Corporate Designs, Nedcomoaks, Goldielux Catering, Pennek Group, Zenith Bank, and Zenera Consulting.
Dr. Femi Owagbemi, a representative of Pro-Health International reiterated their commitment to maintaining follow-up procedures that ensure the well-being of the beneficiaries of the medical intervention.
“Over the years, our organisation, with the aid of volunteers, has endeavoured to deliver high-quality healthcare both during and after the Ubomi outreach, offering a glimmer of hope to the less privileged. It has been an immense honour to collaborate on this noble endeavour with the Pistis Foundation for the past three years,” he stated.
