James Hope University, Lekki, Lagos, has announced the appointment of Prof. Austin Nosike, a leading economist and management scholar, as its new Vice Chancellor.
The appointment, which was approved by the University’s Board of Trustees following the recommendation of the Joint Governing Council, Senate, and Search Team, marks a new chapter for the institution.

Prof. Nosike brings over 30 years of experience in higher education, research, and human capacity building across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He has taught, consulted, and held leadership roles in several institutions, giving him a rich blend of international exposure and local insight.
A Distinguished Scholar and Astute Administrator
Before joining James Hope University, Prof. Nosike served in several administrative capacities, including Head of Department, Director, Dean, and Deputy Vice Chancellor at different universities worldwide. His leadership experience positions him to steer the university toward greater academic excellence.
Responsibilities as Vice Chancellor
As Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nosike serves as the Chief Executive, Chief Accounting Officer, and Academic Head of the University. He is also an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, Chairman of Senate, and Chairman of Congregation.
His mandate includes overseeing the day-to-day administration, ensuring compliance with university statutes, supervising student admissions (subject to Senate-approved guidelines), and maintaining peace and order within the institution.

Prof. Nosike is widely recognized for his dedication to academic quality assurance, strategic planning, and resource management. He has organized more than 100 international conferences, workshops, and seminars, and supervised numerous PhD and Master’s students to completion.

Beyond academia, he has worked with consulting firms such as Ace Consultancy Services, Afro-Euro Consult, and Peak Consultancy Services, where he facilitated senior executive training programs, recruitment exercises, and corporate audits. He has also consulted for governments, NGOs, and international agencies on projects focused on globalization, corporate governance, development management, public policy, and human rights.

Educational Background and Personal Life
Born on March 23, 1972, Prof. Nosike graduated with distinction from the Anambra State College of Education and earned a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Nigeria in 1993. He went on to pursue graduate studies at institutions in Poland, the UK, Hungary, Spain, France, Mexico, and Nicaragua, earning multiple postgraduate degrees including a PhD in Economics (Distinction) and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).
Prof. Nosike is a Christian of Catholic faith, speaks English and Spanish, and is married with children.
