In the heart of Abuja this June, a quiet revolution unfolded, not with fireworks or headlines, but with code, creativity, and purpose.

For two days, some of Nigeria’s brightest minds gathered, virtually and in person, for the inaugural Q-Hackathon 2025, hosted by innovation-driven software company Quocreo.

Themed “Harnessing Emerging Technologies for Transformative Solutions,” the hackathon wasn’t just another tech contest it was a launchpad for ideas that could reshape industries and solve real-world problems. With over 250 participants and 22 solutions pitched, the event was a bold celebration of local talent and ingenuity.

“This wasn’t just about building apps,” said Bello Abdulmateen, Quocreo’s chief innovation officer. “It was about building purposeful, scalable products that can make a difference in the world.”

The Q-Hackathon drew energy from its hybrid format, with 15 virtual participants and 7 onsite innovators pitching projects that harnessed cutting-edge technologies like AI, Blockchain, IoT, AR/VR, and Cybersecurity.

The solutions spanned critical sectors, healthcare, finance, education, agriculture, smart cities, and media, with a single unifying goal: to tackle pressing local and global challenges through tech.

A panel of seasoned professionals, including Charles Eshimokhai, Charles Ochei, and Moses Arfo, provided rigorous evaluation. Entries were judged on technical merit, creativity, feasibility, impact, and clarity, but just as importantly, on empathy and intent.

“We saw not just innovation, but a genuine desire to solve problems that matter,” said Moses Arfo of VerifyMe Nigeria.

Meet the Winners: Innovators with Vision

🏆 First Place – Chikodi Chukwu: “Preview Solutions”, a tailored platform for event planners looking to streamline operations and improve client experiences.

These winners weren’t just given trophies, they were handed a future. Through Quocreo’s Innovation Lab, they’ll receive mentorship, development support, and go-to-market guidance to turn their prototypes into scalable products.

More Than an Event: A Movement Begins

As the closing session wrapped up, Quocreo Product Manager Charles Eshimokhai shared a moment of reflection:

“Events like this show what happens when vision meets opportunity. These ideas can drive transformative change—not just in tech, but in lives.”

With its first Q-Hackathon, Quocreo has declared its intent, not just to build software, but to build a future.
