Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Skrmiish, a gaming technology startup, has launched an app embedded with BTC blockchain to enable gamers to play and win cash.
The Skrmiish app allows the creation of competitive gaming experiences for fun, rewards or cash. Its current innovation, the patented Layer-2 Bitcoin cryptocurrency digital wallet, was developed in line with the FCA regulated CoinMode.
Focused on gaming industries within and outside South Africa, the startup’s payment system facilitates real-time high frequency with low latency, and lightning-fast and low-cost transactions, allowing multi-directional instant payments at 10,000 transactions per second.
Targeting the global $175 billion gaming market, and the $250 billion matches played annually, Skrmiish allows streamers, online gamers, teams and brands to monetise their competitive and engagement experiences anytime and anywhere.
Founded by Chris Heaton and Roland Reed, the gaming tech startup aims to democratise the world of esports. Skrmiish app was developed two years ago but launched globally in 2021. Gamers can compete on their own terms, choose stakes, among others.
Speaking on the innovation, the company wrote:
“Skrmiish is the world’s first app that allows any user to compete and monetise their experience on the blockchain. Currently, in week 10 of global beta testing, Skrmiish has had over 20,000 downloads, with over a million in in-app currency wagered. Once the crypto-based digital wallet is introduced to the app in November 2021, it will unleash the full global commercial potential of the tech.“
