The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has addressed the issue of proposed salary increases for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, state governors, and other political and public office holders.

According to RMAFC’s Public Relations Officer, Christian Nwachukwu, President Tinubu has not yet approved the salary increment, and the process is still underway.

The disclosure of the salary increment was reportedly made by Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba, a Federal Commissioner in the Commission, during a presentation of the reviewed remuneration package to Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris.

Tanko-Ayuba mentioned that the implementation of the revised remuneration packages would take effect from January 1, 2023.

However, the Commission’s spokesperson contradicted these claims, stating that neither the chairman nor the spokesperson had made any official statements regarding the salary increment.

The spokesperson emphasized that there has been no official communication from the chairman or themselves on this matter.

Therefore, based on the clarification provided by the RMAFC spokesperson, it appears that the reported salary increases for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, state governors, and other office holders have not been approved, and the process is still ongoing
