Samsung Unveils Next-Gen Odyssey OLED Gaming Monitors at CES 2024

Samsung Odyssey OLED Series

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its latest innovations in gaming monitors at CES 2024, the premier tech event hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).

The Samsung Odyssey OLED series, comprising the G9 (G95SD model), G8 (G80SD model), and G6 (G60SD model), promises enhanced performance and visual clarity for gamers.

Leading the pack is the Odyssey OLED G9, a 49” curved ultra-wide gaming monitor with a DQHD (5,120 x 1,440) resolution, a 32:9 aspect ratio, and various upgraded features. The G8 introduces the first flat 32” Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Both models boast a 240Hz refresh rate and a swift 0.03ms GTG response time. The Odyssey OLED G6, a 27” QHD (2,560 x 1,440) monitor, supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 360Hz refresh rate, and the same rapid 0.03ms GTG response time.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasised the monitors’ adaptability to the evolving gaming sector. He stated, “Samsung’s new OLED Odyssey gaming monitors will empower gamers with more immersive game environments and innovative technology that personalise their gaming experiences — meeting and exceeding their evolving needs.”

These monitors feature OLED Glare-Free technology, minimising light reflections for an enhanced viewing experience without additional equipment. With VESA DisplayHDR™️ True Black 400, the monitors deliver incredible details and vivid colours, supporting AMD FreeSync™️ Premium Pro for ultra-smooth, low-latency HDR gaming.

Connectivity is comprehensive, with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. VESA mount compatibility and a height-adjustable stand (HAS) with tilt, swivel, and pivot control points enhance user comfort and convenience.

The Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 now offer Multi Control, facilitating seamless device connectivity for a superior multi-device experience. Users can effortlessly transfer images and text between their Samsung monitors and other Samsung devices, including Galaxy Books, tablets, or phones, streamlining work processes. Additionally, both models include the Samsung SmartThings Hub for connecting to various IoT devices compatible with Matter and the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA).

The Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 serve as all-in-one entertainment hubs, featuring the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub. This allows access to streaming and cloud gaming services without the need for downloads, storage constraints, or a PC/console.

Samsung introduces flat OLED options to the Odyssey lineup for the first time, along with a 16:9 aspect ratio for the G8 and G6 models. The sleek, slim metal design is accentuated by Core Lighting+, which emits ambient light from the back of the monitor, creating an immersive gaming environment.

The new models also feature a 3.9mm metal bezel with a lighting circle four times slimmer than the previous model, and a tool-free assembly structure for the slim metal stand.
