Professor Adebukola Onashoga, chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Conferences Committee, has unveiled the agenda for SmartEco 2024, highlighting its focus on bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Speaking during a press conference recently, she said the NCS International Conference is the premier event of the Society, and this year will be no exception.
In her words, “SmartEco 2024 begins with a hands-on capacity session facilitated by Cisco Academy, featuring emerging technologies like Data Science and IoT.
“This initiative offers free participation and certification, aiming to attract a diverse group from both industry and academia and align with the mission of building capacity in these evolving areas of computing.
“Onashoga emphasized that participants can look forward to an engaging and practical experience designed to enhance skills in these rapidly evolving fields”.
Onashoga also discussed the Doctoral Consortium plenary session, which is designed to expose the world of research to a diverse audience, including policymakers, industry professionals, students, and academics.
“Sponsored by Prof. Stella Chiemeke, this session will foster synergy between academia and industry, with opportunities for doctoral candidates to interact with senior researchers and industry leaders. A significant cash award for the best research candidate and supervisor will highlight excellence in research and mentorship”, she said.
The event will also feature a diverse range of discussants and guest speakers at each plenary session, ensuring varied contributions from different perspectives, with an emphasis on encouraging women’s participation.
