Shenzhen Tenda Technology Company Limited, a global networking equipment giant, has reiterated its focus on ensuring better and affordable internet access across the Nigerian market with the introduction of new wireless, fibre-optic, and IP surveillance solutions, in collaboration with its major West African distributor, Coscharis Technologies.

Themed “Connected to Win: For a Better Networking,” the partner and product launch event, held at Protea Hotel by Marriott in Ikeja, brought together IT professionals, resellers, and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s expanding connectivity market.

In his opening remarks, Chan Wills, director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Shezhen Tenda Technology Company Ltd, acknowledged Coscharis’ role in the partnership’s success.

“I want to show my sincere appreciation to our distributor partners. Without your support, we cannot be successful in this country, especially the trust and support from the Managing Director and CEO of Coscharis Technologies, Dr. Sunday Mukoro,” he said.

Dr. Sunday Mukoro, Coscharis Technologies MD/CEO, noted the importance of the alliance. “Costaris is the only distributor that will not compete with you in the marketplace… If we are aware that you are bidding in a particular account, we will go there and speak for you and make sure that you win the transaction,” he assured partners, adding that simplicity, accessibility, and business integrity remain core to the company’s philosophy.

Mukoro further announced Coscharis’ upcoming software platform, “Marketplace for Africa to Trade Integrity Platform” expected to launch in Nigeria in a few months.

Nigeria: Tenda’s Largest West African Market

Yao Coy, resident director and country manager for Tenda Nigeria, confirmed that over 200,000 Tenda devices have been sold in the last two years with “almost zero return rate.” He stated, “We offered our distributor a two-year warranty period.”

Joseph Agema, Sell-Through Manager for Tenda in Nigeria, explained the importance of Nigeria: “Nigeria is the biggest market that Tenda has in West Africa and maybe the third biggest market that Tenda looks at in Africa as a whole. The potential for this market is huge.”

Agema emphasised that Tenda’s new investment in Nigeria exceeds $1 million, with expectations of growing 50% year-on-year as demand for high-speed internet and reliable networking gear rises. However, he admitted that market challenges such as counterfeit products, grey imports, and fluctuating exchange rates serve as limitations.

Tenda showcased its extensive product lineup, from home routers and extenders to enterprise-grade wireless access points, switches, fibre optics, mesh systems, and IP cameras.

According to Agema, what sets Tenda apart from competitors like TP-Link and Ubiquiti is “pricing, rebate, support, ease of installation, and the quality of the product.” He added, “We have made our installation processes quite simple… Our devices are cheaper and offer more features.”

For instance, all Tenda routers, regardless of size or model, offer four-in-one functions: router, access point, repeater, and WISP mode. “You can confidently tell your customers that even the simplest Tenda router can function in four different modes,” he explained.

Cloud-Managed Enterprise Solutions

Beyond hardware, Tenda also announced a cloud-based management platform, Cloud-Five, that allows enterprises to remotely manage and configure access points, switches, and other networking devices across multiple locations.

“Topology settings, VPN, DHCP, static routing, switching—all can be configured through our cloud management system,” said Agema. “If I have a site in Sokoto and I’m sitting in Lagos, I can monitor and control what’s going on there.”

Pushing Into Cameras and Fibre Optics

Tenda is also diversifying into IP cameras, offering both indoor and outdoor models with up to 6MP resolution, two-way audio, and compatibility with smart home systems like Alexa. “You may even see better quality at a cheaper price,” said Agema, comparing Tenda to Hikvision and Dahua.

For fibre optics, Tenda now offers OLT and ONU chip-on devices compatible with Huawei, ZTE, and other international standards, and priced to disrupt.

The company stressed its dedication to the Nigerian market through local staffing and a technical support team. “We are not offering a single-person support in Nigeria,” Agema explained. “We have a team on ground and also remote teams. Our average response time is within 30 minutes.”

Training, Feedback and Integrity

The event also addressed concerns from partners regarding training and technical knowledge gaps. Agema revealed that Tenda organises monthly training sessions targeted at installers, partners, and resellers. “What we have identified is a knowledge gap, not a product quality issue,” he said.

Dr. Mukoro reaffirmed, “Even though I understand that a lot of Nigerians, integrity is the most expensive commodity today… those that have proven they have integrity, we support their businesses to grow—without a bank guarantee.”

With more Nigerians transitioning to smart homes, enterprise networking, and cloud-managed systems, Tenda’s strengthening its footprint, local presence, and partner-first model could bolster its innovation in the region’s telecom and connectivity space.

“We are not going to win alone… Coscharis, Tenda, and every partner seated here—we all are going to win together,” Mukoro said.
