Terrahaptix, Africa’s leading drone manufacturer, has secured a huge contract to produce and supply 70 advanced Archer VTOL drones to Ghana.
The contract, valued at $500k (approximately NGN 800M), was finalized on July 22, 2024, and will span over 24 months. Making this the largest contract so far for the 9-month-old startup.
GEM Solutions, a leading drone services provider, will use the Archers to streamline mapping and reconnaissance operations for thousands of farmers in Ghana.
The company previously acquired European UAS systems for their large-scale mapping before switching to Terrahaptix.
The decision to award the contract to Terrahaptix was based on the superior range, flight autonomy, and sensor quality of the Archer UAS, which also offers competitive pricing and robust warranty terms.
The vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capable Archer drone provides GEM Solutions with a tactical reconnaissance & mapping system that meets stringent requirements for range, flight time, and sensor capabilities.
It has a flight duration of up to four hours and is equipped with multi-spectral capabilities such as optical and infrared cameras for day and night operations under challenging conditions.
“We are proud to be selected by GEM Solutions to provide our advanced Archer UAS to support agricultural operations in Ghana. Our collaboration with GEM Solutions marks a significant milestone in our mission to support regional initiatives aimed at industrializing Africa,” said Nathan Nwachuku, Chairman of Terrahaptix.
