Ugochukwu Obiora Chime, the convener and Managing Director of the COPEN Group, at Enugu Business Summit under the theme “Unveiling Your Inner Capacities” held on Thursday 5th October 2023, set the tone with a warm welcome address.
He emphasized the event’s aim is to inspire participants to look within, become aware of their divine purpose and mission on Earth, and understand that success is achieved by discovering and fulfilling one’s purpose.
Mr. Chime stressed the importance of impacting society with the love of God, a core vision of Amadeo Initiatives, the non-profit arm of COPEN Group.
Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Barr. Peter Mbah, who was ably represented by the commissioner for human capital development and poverty alleviation conveyed his good will message.
He expressed appreciation to convener for organizing the event, that the summit is in alignment with the government’s goal of significantly increasing the state’s revenue from $4 billion to $30 billion.
The commissioner expressed the readiness of the Government to support and partner with the organization.
Dr. Maduka Onyishi, CEO of Peace Mass Transit Limited, delivered an impactful goodwill message.
He shared that his motivation in business is to provide service to humanity. Dr. Onyishi emphasized that both money and happiness are rewards for rendering service to humanity, highlighting the intrinsic connection between business success and societal impact.
A significant highlight of the summit was the induction into the Amadeo Initiatives Hall of Fame and the presentation of awards to exceptional achievers. These individuals had demonstrated resilience and diligence in their endeavors, making significant contributions to society. The honorees were:
- Chinedu Nebo: Former VC of the University of Nigeria, former Minister of Power, former VC of Federal University Oye Ekiti, and the pioneer VC of the University of the Niger, Awka.
- Joy Ezielo: Former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Nigeria, former Commissioner for Gender and Social Development in Enugu State, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and a prominent activist. She received multiple awards, including the National Human Rights Award and the Civil Society Award of Excellence by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She was also recognized as one of the 2022 BBC 100 Women.
- Sir Robert O. Nwatu: Founder and CEO of Roban Group, comprising Roban Hotels and Roban Stores.
- Maduka Onyishi: CEO of Peace Mass Transit Limited and founder of Maduka University.
- Ifeanyi Okoye: Founder and CEO of Juhel Nigeria Limited.
- Nnolim Nnaji: Former Commissioner for Public Utilities in Enugu State and legislator representing Nkanu East and West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
The awards were presented in recognition of their remarkable character, outstanding attainments, and undeniable impact on humanity. Ugochukwu Chime, in his closing remarks, urged participants to look forward to the “Business Clinic, Job, and Employability Fair” scheduled for November 23, 2023.
He emphasized that this upcoming event would provide a platform for acquiring knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities, further empowering attendees on their entrepreneurial journey.
