Bolt, a ride-hailing platform in Nigeria, has commended the Lagos State Police Command for its commendable efforts in apprehending several armed robbery gangs who targeted private commercial vehicle operators, including Bolt driver-partners.

This milestone reflects the unwavering dedication of the Nigerian Police Force to ensuring safety and security within Lagos State.

In light of recent incidents, Bolt strongly urges its driver-partners to prioritize their safety by leveraging the several safety features available on the app and adhering to platform guidelines such as sharing their trip details in real-time with trusted contacts or using the in-app SOS button to alert emergency services and also avoid accepting trips outside the platform to ensure all journeys are documented and insured.

Speaking on the recent development, Osi Oguah, the general manager at Bolt Nigeria said:

“We applaud the Lagos State Police Command for their swift and decisive action in dismantling these criminal gangs. The safety of our driver-partners and riders is our top priority, and we will continue to invest in tools, technology, and partnerships that enhance security. We also encourage our driver-partners to fully utilize the safety features available on the Bolt app and to remain vigilant at all times.”

Bolt remains committed to collaborating with law enforcement agencies, regulators, and key stakeholders to ensure safer roads and to create a secure environment for mobility services in Lagos and across Nigeria.

The company recently announced a significant commitment of €100 million over the next three years to bolster safety measures on its platform.

This investment will support The Bolt Safety Team in its critical work of product development, customer support, safety feature awareness, and preventative measures to minimize safety incidents.
