Most times, you see people struggling with the choice of a laptop that fits-it-all. One person might be faced with the choice of a device that can be easily transported in your favorite backpack or briefcase while the colleague is interested in a laptop that wouldn’t weigh a ton, and wouldn’t take up much space on your desk!
It sounds familiar, right? Most times, the choices are narrowed down to either a 13″ or 14″ machine, or a 17″ one. You might also be considering a 15″ laptop as a compromise between the two.
Many people settle for the smaller version and get themselves another device like a tablet or a portable screen to extend their viewing space. But that means you’ve already got two devices that you need to put in your backpack.
Let’s introduce ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, you can have the best of both worlds in the portable vs large screen debate, and there’s no need for both a tablet and a laptop!
So, the question: What makes Zenbook 17 Fold OLED unique?
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED: One Device, Many Faces
When fully opened, you can use it as a large tablet (Tablet Mode). This is perfect for watching movies on the sofa, catching up on the morning news, reviewing artworks from your company’s creative team, presenting your creative content to your clients, colleagues, or just asking your friends for feedback on it.
The leather kickstand at the back of the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED lets you use this device as a desktop computer. It comes with an ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad that makes it easy to work at a desk on a large screen when you’re office-bound.
When you’re on the go, or working in a non-office environment, like a local café, you can use it in Laptop Mode.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED folds into a 12.5″ laptop, and you can choose whether you want to use just half of the screen space and place the ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad onto the lower half of the display, or view both halves of the folded screen while using the keyboard separately (that’s called Extended Mode).
You don’t always need your keyboard with you, though. You can choose to use Zenbook 17 Fold OLED in Laptop mode with an on-screen virtual keyboard. This occupies the lower half of the bottom screen. From here, it’s your choice whether you’d like to connect a Bluetooth mouse, or simply use the touchscreen for control.
Finally, perhaps the most unique way to use the device is in Reader Mode. Folding the device just slightly and holding the device horizontally gives you a book-reading-like experience (considering the 17″ size, we should probably say “encyclopedia reading” or “newspaper reading” experience, though).
The large screen real estate gives you plenty of space to comfortably catch up on the news, read an ebook you’ve just downloaded, or review a multi-page PDF.
With the touchscreen still enabled, this is also a comfortable way to be productive! Email on one side, a spreadsheet on another, with touch input — you can do it all while on the go, holding Zenbook 17 Fold OLED with one hand and controlling it with the other.
So just how fast is this machine?
Zenbook 17 fold OLED is equipped with some of the best components a laptop can have. If the table below doesn’t tell you the full story, we can tell you this: it can handle a heavy workload!
The powerful 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM give you plenty of multitasking capability. With 1TB of SSD storage, you can be sure of quick access to the thousands of large files you might want to store, be it movies, design files, or work documents.
The large 75Wh battery lets you to go a full working day on a single charge (9.5hrs in Laptop mode, 8.5hrs in Desktop mode).
You can also reap the full benefits of fast internet connections, thanks to the tri-band Intel Wi-Fi 6E Wi-Fi connection. Connecting wireless devices will also give you a smooth, uninterrupted experience (as long as your devices can keep up) thanks to Bluetooth 5.2 technology.
All in all, Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is a beautiful, versatile beast that’s the perfect new companion for any setting.
Versatility
The unique form factor and versatility of usage modes make this computer a great companion for you, wherever you go.
When folded, the device is just as small as a 12.5″ laptop — smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. At 17.4mm slim, it fits comfortably into most backpacks or briefcases. And it doesn’t weigh all that much either! At just 1.5kg without a keyboard (and an additional 0.3kg with a keyboard), it won’t give you back pain just from carrying it around.
The six different usage modes allow you to work comfortably wherever you are. Opening it on your lap while waiting for boarding at an airport, using it handheld to watch movies during the flight, and setting it up in Desktop Mode once you’re finally at your desk at home — this machine will be with you at all stages of your journey.
And one more promise? It will surely attract some eyeballs as well!
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED as Perfect Work Tool
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is a great work tool. Powerful and portable, this computer will be with you at the office, during meetings, or on your business trips. The elegant design and leather kickstand will look great with whatever you’re wearing.
This computer has all the advantages of a tablet while packing much more computing power. Its powerful 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage mean it’s more capable than your regular laptop.
It also carries the benefits of both a desktop and a laptop. The six usage modes let you set yourself up comfortably in any place.
If you like to use a lot of peripherals when at your desk (such as your favorite mouse, a mechanical keyboard, a second screen and a headset), the two fast Thunderbolt 4 ports and an audio jack let you to power up and use your favorite peripherals at the same time via a docking station or a dongle. But when it’s time to go, simply pack Zenbook 17 Fold OLED into your bag and continue the work away from the desk!
Won’t It Break Easily?
If your first thought was “how can a screen be folded without cracking?”, you’re not alone. Most screens in laptops and tablets nowadays still use glass LCD screens, which are rigid. Chances are, you probably had your phone screen replaced at some point. You can’t be blamed for being suspicious about a screen that folds.
Well, the great thing about foldable OLED screens is that the technology used employs plastic rather than glass, meaning the screen can be flexible. In the future, perhaps we will see this tech being employed in innovative home devices , wearables, or public areas such as bus-stop signs.
ASUS torture-tested the hinge ─ the area that folds ─ by putting the device through a 30,000-cycle open-and-close session, and we’re happy to say it rose to the task. This device is also certified with a US Military-Grade Durability badge, so you can be sure it’s made to last.
