The Honor X9d is now officially available in stores worldwide, including Nigeria, following a month-long pre-order period.
Since going on retail sale on April 1, the device has quickly drawn attention for how far it pushes current smartphone trends in 2026.
While many manufacturers are focusing on slimmer and lighter devices, Honor takes a different approach with the X9d. The phone is designed with durability in mind, with features made specially for Nigeria’s rigorous environment.
For many users, this device is not just another smartphone, it could be a survival tool.
An interesting feature is its massive 8,300 mAh battery, which surpasses most smartphones reviewed this year.
Combined with a display that can reach up to 6000 nits brightness, the X9d is obviously built to serve under harsh conditions that many devices can’t handle.
Performance Overview
The biggest statement of the Honor X9d is not even its massive battery life or its ultra-bright display, it is the exceptional durability features.
With an IP69 rating and reinforced drop protection, up to 2.5 metres, this smartphone stands out as one of the toughest mid-range phones made this year so far.
An IP69 rating means it can withstand more water, dust and pressure than even streetlights that are basically for outdoor use.
Within its build is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, which is the first in Qualcomm’s 6 series to support local AI processing, including INT4 processing.
This means that the Honor X9d is powerful enough for upper mid-range performance while being future-proof.
- Processor: Snapdragon 6 Gen 4
- Durability: IP69 rating and drop resistance up to 2.5 metres
- RAM: 8GB/12GB variants
- ROM: 256GB (No SD card slot)
Battery performance is particularly important in markets where power supply is inconsistent. The large battery, paired with 66W fast charging support, ensures users can stay powered for longer periods while also recharging relatively quickly.
Aside from being a very durable device, the Honor X9d could easily pass as the best battery smartphone so far in 2026.
Its display features also present extra advantages. Although not an AMOLED display, it still comes with an impressive wide OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The main advantage is its brightness, which can reach as high as 6000 nits. This combination is flagship-level for a mid-range phone.
- Battery size: 8,300 mAh
- Charging: 66W
- Display: 6.79-inch OLED screen
- Refresh rate: 120Hz
- Brightness: 6000 nits
The camera setup of the X9d looks impressive. 108MP main camera lens with 16MP selfie camera, but some early users complain about its picture processing. Altogether, it doesn’t seem like a camera-focused phone, but still better than many models launched by other competing brands this year.
- Main Camera: 108MP with OIS
- Front camera: 16MP
The Honor X9d is available currently across tech retailers in Nigeria, and sells for between N565,000 and N650,000 depending on the configuration.
The high pricing might be due to import costs and supply, because it is still relatively new and not widely stocked.
Overall, the Honor X9d is an amazing smartphone, but it was not made to challenge premium flagships from Samsung or Apple.
It is built for specific types of users who want a phone that is durable, both with battery and built, while still reliable for everyday use.
Unlike other recent smartphones, the Honor X9d does not come with many extra premium features like wireless charging, telephoto zoom or flagship chips, because it focuses more on durability and solid battery strength.
