Nigeria has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing, one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers to facilitate the modernization of Nigerian airlines’ fleets.
The signing ceremony, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, marks a significant step forward in enhancing Nigerian airlines’ operational efficiency and safety while positioning them for growth in the global aviation market.
The MoU was signed by Mr Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa.
Mr Keyamo, emphasized the importance of the MoU in supporting the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector, stating that the partnership will improve the operational efficiency of Nigerian airlines and ensure the safety and reliability of air travel in Nigeria.
Anbessie Yitbarek vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa, Boeing, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that Boeing is committed to supporting the growth and development of aviation in Africa.
The partnership will also provide training and development opportunities for airline personnel, as well as maintenance and engineering support to ensure the smooth operation of aircraft.
The MoU is expected to have far-reaching benefits for Nigeria’s aviation sector, including improved safety and operational efficiency, enhanced technical support, and access to Boeing’s vast repository of maintenance documents and engineering drawings.
