Unilever’s Executive Director and General Counsel, Bidemi Ademola, Steps Down

Unilever Nigeria has officially announced the resignation of Mrs. Bidemi Ademola from her position as Executive Director on the Board of Directors and General Counsel at Unilever Nigeria Plc.

Her resignation will take effect today May 31, 2023, as indicated in the company’s notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).

In the statement, the Board of Directors and management of Unilever Nigeria expressed their well-wishes for Mrs. Ademola’s future endeavors and conveyed their sincere appreciation for her numerous valuable contributions and legal expertise during her 27-year career at Unilever.

Tim Kleinebenne, the Managing Director of Unilever Nigeria, commented on Mrs. Ademola’s resignation, personally thanking her for her unwavering dedication, commitment, and significant professional contributions to the business throughout her tenure at Unilever.

According to the statement, Mrs. Abidemi Ademola is a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Counsel, Governance Professional, and Executive Business Leader with over 27 years of practical experience in Commercial Law and Corporate Governance, specifically in Nigeria and West Africa.

Motivated by a personal purpose to establish a lasting legacy by shaping capabilities in Governance, Risk, and Compliance, Mrs. Ademola excels in proactively identifying legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance risks to businesses.

She has been instrumental in developing innovative strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring smooth business operations and long-term sustainability.

Mrs. Ademola has successfully built robust legal teams and has been involved in various significant legal transactions and projects across West Africa.

For more than a decade, she has provided essential support to the Unilever Nigeria Board in implementing world-class Corporate Governance practices and processes, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of the Board.

Mrs. Ademola’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, Akoka, and an MBA in Leadership from Walden University in the United States.
