Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc has appointed Babatunde Irukera, the immediate past executive vice chairman/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), as its new Board Chairman.

The appointment was announced in a disclosure signed by Saratu Umar Garba, company secretary/legal adviser. According to the statement, the board members unanimously appointed Irukera during the company’s 196th Board Meeting held on July 31, 2025.

Irukera was previously appointed as a non-executive director during the 195th Board Meeting on May 2, 2025, with his appointment recently approved by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the company’s primary regulator.

A legal and regulatory expert, Babatunde Irukera brings over three decades of experience in institutional reform, market regulation, and public interest litigation in Nigeria and internationally.

He has advised and represented both federal and state governments, regulatory agencies, and international organizations in complex, high-impact matters including major aviation accident claims and multi-jurisdictional consumer and competition cases.
